ABOUT US

OF US AND THE AUTODROME'S OF LINAS-MONTLHERY

A PASSIONATE TEAM

Les Grandes Heures Automobiles was founded in 2015 by Franz Hummel, the ambassador of Les Grandes Heures. As a boy he’d watch his father run on the legendary Linas-Montlhéry motor-racing track near Paris. Franz took part in Les 24 Heures du Mans and the Monte-Carlo Rally as a driver. He’s also a world record holder and is still the only person to complete the trans-African challenge solo. He collaborated with La Ronde Hivernale and to plan and develop Les 24 Heures sur Glace de Chamonix, Le Festival Automobile de Chamonix (founded with Rémi Depoix), Les Week-Ends de l'Excellence Automobile de Reims-Gueux and ice races in Canada, Finland, Italy, Russia and many more. For Franz, organising Les Grandes Heures with a truly passionate team stems from his desire to revive a legendary track that last held races in 2004. It’s a way to pay tribute to the track and his father.

THE LINAS-MONTLHÉRY MOTOR-RACING TRACK

The speed circuit at the Autodrome de Montlhéry was based on an idea by Alexandre Lamblin and designed by Raymond Jamin. It opened in October 1924. Its slopes reached up to 51 degrees and set the scene for over 1800 motoring, motorcycling and cycling records.
It also hosted the most prestigious Inter-War races such as the French Car Club Grand Prix and the French Motorcycling Grand Prix.

In 1925 it was joined by a road circuit covering over 12km which saw challenges such as the Paris 1000km, the Motorcycling Bol d’Or and the World Road Cycling Championship! The circuit has now been reduced to 3.4km and hasn’t hosted races since 2004. Today, we’d like you to come to experience Les Grandes Heures at the speed circuit.
